Who We Are

Who We Are

Faith Presbyterian Church:
Welcoming, Inclusive, Evolving

Faith Presbyterian Church is part of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We strive to be a community of God’s people who are – Welcoming – Inclusive – Evolving.
Rooted in God’s Love

Welcoming

We welcome all because we believe that God’s love is extended to everyone and that our mission is to extend that love to others.

Inclusive

We are inclusive because we believe that God created us as diverse, unique and beloved individuals.

Evolving

We are evolving because we believe that God continues to call us to grow in our faith and in our understanding of what we are being called to do through every season and age of life.
WHAT WE BELIEVE

Faithful and Mission-Focused

We believe that God is love and that our mission is to share that love with others. We affirm our belief that God comes to us with grace and love seen most clearly in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through the resurrection of Jesus, we trust in the life eternal and embrace the gift of abundant life here on earth.

Believing that we are called to serve Jesus and to continue his mission in the world, we seek, by the power of God’s Spirit, to feed those who are hungry, to heal the broken, to welcome the stranger and to work for the coming of God’s kingdom here on earth.

We believe in the Presbyterian form of government and are part of the PC(USA) and belong to Peace River Presbytery As part of this tradition we rely on the importance of active, representational leadership of both pastors and members of the congregation.

ELDERS

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA), Faith Presbyterian Church is led by ruling elders – men and women who are called by God and elected through the voice of the congregation to serve three-year terms on the Session (which is basically a Presbyterian term which refers to a governing board). The Session is responsible for the mission and governance of the church of Jesus Christ in this place. Our Session gathers monthly to discern the movement of God’s Spirit in its deliberations, and to pray for the church’s ministries, members, and friends.

BOARD OF DEACONS

The Board of Deacons is responsible for the ministries of caregiving, compassion, and service in the life of the congregation. Deacons are called by God and elected through the voice of the congregation to serve three-year terms on the Diaconate (another name for the Board of Deacons). Our congregation has divided Cape Coral and its surrounding areas into “neighborhoods,” and each neighborhood has its own Deacon. Your neighborhood Deacon will communicate with you from time to time and is there to help you. Please feel free to contact your neighborhood, Deacon. We also ask that you keep your neighborhood Deacon informed of any changes in address or telephone number. This helps us with our Emergency Response Network which makes sure that during hurricane season, your family can be promptly located before and after a hurricane and provide any assistance you may require.

The Diaconate gathers monthly to coordinate their efforts and pray for the church’s members and friends.
